  • BEHREND MEN'S SOCCER RANKED NO. 16 IN FINAL COACHES POLL

    The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team earned its first-ever spot in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Final rankings announced on Tuesday. The Lions finished No. 16 in the Top 25 after finishing with a 16-4-2 overall record for the 2018 season.

    Six AMCC men's soccer players were named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Great Lakes Region Team. Honorees include Medaille College's Lachlan Beever, Penn State Behrend's Chris Ralph, Aaron Harris and Dakota Lange, and Mount Aloysius College's Joshua Devlin and Cameron Kemp.

    The No. 4 Calvin College (19-1) men's soccer team scored three goals in the final 19 minutes to defeat Penn State Behrend (16-4-2) 4-1 in the NCAA Division III Regional Semifinals held at Case Western Reserve University on Friday night.

    A duo of Penn St. Behrend men's soccer players were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Wednesday afternoon. Senior defender Ryan Maurer was named the Defensive Player of the Month for the month of October in the South region, while freshman forward Logan Brinsky was named the Rookie of the month.

    Medaille College freshman forward Lachlan Beever has been named the 2018 AMCC Newcomer and Offensive Player of the Year. He had a standout rookie campaign offensively, scoring 19 goals and adding three assists for a total of 41 points.

  • Ryan Maurer, Penn State Behrend, Men's Soccer - Defensive

    Maurer helped guide Penn State Behrend to an AMCC tournament title last week. He scored a pair of goals against Franciscan in the AMCC Semifinals and also added a goal in the AMCC title match against Medaille. More importantly, Maurer captained a Penn State defense that only allowed five goals against AMCC opponents this season. For his efforts in the AMCC Tournament, Maurer was named to the AMCC all-tournament team.
  • Richard Blanchard, Penn State Behrend, Men's Soccer - Offensive

    Blanchard scored the game-winning goal in the AMCC Championship game in the 76th minute, helping Penn State Behrend defeat Medaille College for the AMCC men's soccer title. Blanchard also had one assist in the AMCC semifinal against Franciscan earlier in the week. PSB will be headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016.

    In AMCC men's soccer semifinal action, #1 Penn State Behrend defeated #4 Franciscan University 5-2, while #2 Medaille College got the 2-1 victory over Mount Aloysius College to advance to the championship game Saturday afternoon.
  • Brian Gaughan, Franciscan University, Men's Soccer - Defensive

    Gaughan set the single-season program individual win record with his win in net against Pitt.-Greensburg. Gaughan finished the week 2-0 with a .50 GAA, including a shutout against Pitt.-Greensburg. For the week, Gaughan recorded six saves to push his single-season total to 82, setting the program's single-season save record.
  • Ximo Vicent, La Roche College, Men's Soccer - Offensive

    Vicent scored three goals over two games. He scored twice, including the game-winner, in the Redhawks' AMCC playoff berth clinching victory over Penn State Altoona. He then scored in La Roche's tournament game at Mt. Aloysius.

    The third-seeded Mount Aloysius College men's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over #6 La Roche College, while #4 Franciscan University handed #5 D'Youville College a 6-1 loss in the first round of the AMCC men's soccer tournament.

    The AMCC men's soccer game of the week features two of the three teams battling it out for the final two playoff spots. D'Youville College (4-3-1), La Roche College (3-4-1), and Penn State Altoona (3-5) are all in the hunt for the #5 and #6 seeds of the AMCC championship tournament.
  • Andrew Mastovich, Penn State Behrend, Men's Soccer - Defensive

    Mastovich led the Lions defense to three wins this week, including two victories over two of the top teams in the AMCC. He was instrumental in allowing just eight totals shots on goal all week, while he anchored the defense that tallied two shut outs.

    Ali took over last week for the Mavericks, scoring four goals and adding one helper to help Medaille go 2-0 in conference play. He contributed to three of Medaille's five goals against Pitt Bradford Wednesday, while scoring the game-winning goal against La Roche Saturday.

    The Penn State Behrend Lions and Mount Aloysius College Mounties will gear up for their biggest game of the season this Saturday when the Lions head to Cresson for a pivotal Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup with the Mounties.

    Pitts was perfect again for the Mavericks, stopping all six shots on goal he faced last week going 2-0 and extending his clean sheet streak to four matches. 
  • Joshua Devlin, Mount Aloysius College, Men's Soccer - Offensive

    Devlin continued to fill the stat sheet with five goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the first place Mounties. Devlin scored three goals and added two assists in a 6-0 victory over Pitt-Greensburg, and then added two more goals against D'Youville in the AMCC game of the week. He currently ranks second in the conference with 11 goals and is tied for first with seven assists.
  • PITT-BRADFORD HOSTS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY ON OCTOBER 6

    The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Department of Athletics hosted Mental Health Awareness Day at its home volleyball and soccer contests Saturday. Each Panther team wore green t-shirts that read the day's slogan, "#StopTheStigma" during warmups.

    The AMCC men's soccer game of the week features two of the top teams in league standings, as the undefeated Mount Aloysius College Mounties (6-0) take on the Spartans of D'Youville College (4-1-1), who sit in second place behind the Mounties.

    Pitts was lights out in net for the Mavericks last week, saving all three shots he faced for two consecutive clean sheets. The two shutouts came at a great time for the Mavs as they went 2-0 last week to improve to 3-1-1 in AMCC play.
  • Jonathan Fernandez, Mount Aloysius College, Men's Soccer - Offensive

    Fernandez led the Mounties offensively in a 2-0 week as he scored two goals in a victory over Penn State Altoona then contributed two goals and three assists in a win over Hilbert. For the week, Fernandez recorded four goals and three assists for 11 points.

    United Soccer Coaches announced the Team Academic Award winners for the 2017-2018 academic year on Thursday and the Mount Aloysius College men's and women's soccer teams, along with the Pitt-Greensburg women's team, earned the award.
  • Kyle Dick, D'Youville College, Men's Soccer - Defensive

    Dick has been a major part of the Spartan's undefeated conference start. Dick made six saves to record his second straight shutout against Pitt.-Bradford on Tuesday. He then followed up with 15 saves in the team's comeback as D'Youville tied La Roche 2-2 in 2OT on Saturday. Dick had a strong performance to earn the team another point. Within conference play, Dick currently leads the AMCC in save percentage (.935), is second in goals against average (0.62), wins (2), and saves (29).
