The AMCC men's soccer game of the week features two of the top teams in league standings, as the undefeated Mount Aloysius College Mounties (6-0) take on the Spartans of D'Youville College (4-1-1), who sit in second place behind the Mounties.
The Mount Aloysius Men have continued a dominating 10 game winning streak that has seen them outscore opponents 50-3. In the past three conference games the Mounties have scored 24 goals while shutting out the opponents in all three games. The Mounties have a balanced offensive attack that has seen goals from 17 different players. The attack is spearheaded by Joshua Devlin whose 23 points puts him at a tie atop the conference. Junior goalkeeper James Eyre is atop the conference leader board in almost every statistical category highlighted by his .60 goals against average, .821 save percentage and nine shut outs.
The D’Youville men’s soccer team has had an exceptional season in 2018, standing at a program best 4-1-1 after six conference games. D’Youville has won all four of their games this season via shutout as goalkeeper Kyle Dick and the defensive unit of Josh Hammer, AJ Wade, Matt Davis, Khaled Numan-Ali, and Jake Kowalewski have all been massive in the team’s success. Dick has started all six games in conference play and leads the AMCC in minutes played (540:21) and shutouts (4), tied for second in wins (4), third in saves (40) and save percentage (.870), and fourth in goals against average (1.00). Offensively, the men have been led by Hunter Sherman. He currently is tied for first in goals (7), first in shots (37) and game-winning goals (3), and second in points (15). He has scored in five of six games during conference play and is the team’s most dangerous scoring threat.
