The Mount Aloysius College women's soccer team and the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team each earned a spot in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region rankings on Tuesday. Both the Mounties and the Lions were ranked No. 9, in their respective polls, in the first Great Lakes Region polls of the 2018 season. This honor marks the first time in program history the Mount Aloysius women's soccer team earned a spot in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings.
The Mounties currently have a record of 5-0 and have held their opponents to just two goals. Mount Aloysius has swept the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Week awards for the first two weeks of the season. Senior forward Cheyenne Kuncher and freshman Kourtney Walls have been named AMCC Offensive Players of the Week while goalkeeper Lauren Davey and defender Jordan Gebhart were honored as AMCC Defensive Players of the Week.
Penn State Behrend is undefeated this fall, owning a 3-0-1 record. PSB has posted three straight shutouts, including a shutout victory over No. 24 John Carroll on Friday September 7. The Behrend Lions also have wins over Houghton and Hiram this season. Seniors Chris Ralph and Ryan Maurer have both won Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors this fall. Penn State Behrend has conceded just one goal in 2018.
