Penn State Altoona athletics has announced the hiring of Toni Watt as its next head coach of the varsity women’s bowling program.

Mount Aloysius freshman Rayissa Amon is the 2016 AMCC Newcomer and Bowler of the Year. Amon led the Mounties to their first-ever AMCC regular season and tournament championship titles with a 21-3 conference mark and 50-25 overall record.

Mount Aloysius College won three of four matches on Sunday, earning the program's first AMCC bowling title.

Amon capped off an impressive freshman campaign at the 2016 AMCC championship. Amon led the Mounties to their first women's bowling title, leading the team to a 7-1 record throughout the weekend. Amon averaged 19.9 in the Baker format and 199 in the team match format. She recorded a single game high of 246 against New Jersey City. Amon was also named to the AMCC all-tournament team.

Mount Aloysius College swept both regular season AMCC round robin tournaments and is the top seed heading into the women's bowling championship this weekend.

Amon led the Mounties to an 8-5 week by rolling a league-leading single game high of 254 against Coppin St. She averaged an 19.5 in the Baker format and a 189 in the team format.

Amendola helped the Lady Lions go 2-4 in Friday's baker matches in the Kutztown University Invitational by averaging 18.07 pins per frame.

Papke starred on day one of the AMCC January Round Robin, leading all bowlers in total pinfall (716) and average (179). She also rolled the high-score of day one (219), which was also a season-high. On day two, in the baker formats, Papke dropped 610 total pins, averaging 15.64 pins per frame.

The Mount Aloysius College women's bowling team won the second AMCC Round Robin of the season with an overall record of 7-1 this past weekend.

After the first day of this weekend's AMCC second Round Robin competition of the season, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team found itself in first place by a narrow margin.

In Saturday's 3-0 win over Pitt-Bradford, Penn St. Altoona FR Nicole Watt tallied 331 pins for a 165.5 pins per game average. She bowled a 192 in the second team game, the highest score on the day for either team. In the baker match, Watt posted a team-best 17.47 pins per frame.
