  • AMCC SOFTBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: D'YOUVILLE @ PITT-BRADFORD

    The AMCC Softball Game of the Week features the D'Youville College Spartans traveling to Bradford, PA to take on the Pitt-Bradford Panthers in what looks to be a beautiful day for softball.

    For the first time in her career, Franciscan University sophomore Allyson Weiss has earned a national award as she was named the National Fastpitch News DIII Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
  • AJ Nichols, Penn State Behrend, Softball - Pitcher

    Nichols appeared in three game last week, starting in game one against D'Youville and Mt. Aloysius. In both starts, Nichols registered a win while pitching complete games. Nichols registered 21 strikeouts on the week, including a season-high 12 against Mt. Aloysius. She pitched 14.2 innings, giving up just 10 hits and three runs while finishing the week with an ERA of 0.95.
  • Allyson Weiss, Franciscan University, Softball - Player

    Weiss led the Lady Barons to a 4-0 week in two crucial AMCC sweeps for the Lady Barons. Weiss posted 10 hits in 16 at-bats for a .625 batting average. The sophomore scored nine runs while driving in eight - including four in the victory over Hilbert. Weiss had five extra base hits including three home runs. Weiss was perfect in the field with nine put outs and six assists.  She was 1-for-2 on the base paths and did not strike out in 17 plate appearances.
  • AMCC SOFTBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: MOUNT ALOYSIUS @ PENN STATE BEHREND

    The AMCC softball game of the week features the top two teams in the conference, as second place Mount Aloysius College (21-6, 7-1 AMCC) travels to first place Penn St. Behrend (18-8, 9-1 AMCC) as the two teams continue to fight for the top spot in league standings.
  • Jordan Uhing, Pitt-Bradford, Softball (Pitcher)

    Uhing earned wins in all four of her appearances this week, defeating Hilbert, Alfred State and Franciscan with complete-game wins -- Hilbert and Alfred State wins coming as complete-game shutouts. In game two against Hilbert, she came on in relief in the sixth inning with the tying run at third base. She stranded the runner at third, her team took the lead in the seventh, and she shut Hilbert down in the bottom half to secure the victory and the sweep. At Alfred State, she tossed all seven innings allowing just one hit and striking out 10 Pioneers, the program's first double-digit strikeout game since 2014. In total, she tossed 20.1 innings allowing just four earned runs and striking out 18. Her ERA for the week was 1.38. 
  • Maddy Hillery, Pitt-Bradford, Softball (Player)

    Hillery had a monster week at the plate, going 11-for-20 with five doubles, nine runs scored, and 12 RBI while helping Pitt-Bradford to a 5-1 week. She reached base at a .625 percentage, hit .550 (.615 in AMCC action) and slugged .800. Half of Hillery's doubles came during game two at Alfred State. Her six RBI are the program's most since the same amount was recorded in 2010 and is the third six-RBI game in program history. She also recorded a .905 fielding percentage in the infield for the Panthers.

    Pitt-Greensburg, with a 2-2 conferene record, travels to Buffalo, NY on Saturday to take on 2-0 D'Youville College in the AMCC Softball Game of the Week.
  • AJ Nichols, Penn State Behrend, Softball (Pitcher)

    Nichols appeared in four games this week, finishing the week with a 1.91 ERA. Nichols had three complete game wins against Carnegie Mellon, Pitt-Bradford, and Penn State Altoona. She pitched a total of 22 innings, striking out 23, letting up only eight runs (six earned).
  • Lydia DeFazio, Mount Aloysius College, Softball (Player)

    DeFazio had a dominant week as the Mounties won all four AMCC games they played. She hit an incredible .867, hitting six home runs and two doubles, driving in 13 runs and scoring eight more. DeFazio recorded hits in her first 13 at bats of the week, ending the week 13-for-15. Against Franciscan, she went 8-for-8 in the double header. In game two, she hit three home runs. In the first game of the weekend doubleheader against Medaille, she drove in all three runs, including two on the game-winning walk off home run. For the week, DeFazio hit .867 with an .889 on base percentage, and an incredible 2.200 slugging percentage.

    Penn St. Behrend travels to Penn St. Altoona on Saturday afternoon for the first AMCC softball game of the week this season.
  • HILBERT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AND SOFTBALL TEAMS CONTINUE TO ASSIST SPECIAL OLYMPICS

    For the third year in a row, Hilbert College student-athletes spent a Saturday morning assisting with the WNY Special Olympics at their annual basketball clinic in Williamsville. 
  • Sarah Keating, Franciscan University, Softball (Pitcher)
    March 25, 2019
    Keating picked up two more wins this past week to head into conference play. Keating threw two complete games and gave up just four earned runs in 14 innings for a 2.0 ERA. The freshman posted a season-best 10 strikeouts in FUS's 8-2 win over Waynesburg. Opponents had just 11 hits off of her and she walked just one as Keating improved to 5-0 on the year.
  • Anna Swierczewski, Franciscan University, Softball (Player)
    March 25, 2019
    Swierczewski had a monster week for the Lady Barons to lead them to a 4-0 week in non-conference play. Swierczewski was 11-for-15 with three multi-hit games, including going 4-for-4 against Waynesburg. She drove in seven runs, scored five times and had three extra base hits, including a home run. The freshman struck out just once in 16 plate appearances. The first baseman was perfect in the field making 36 putouts and no errors while adding three assists and turning one double play.
  • Jordan Uhing, Pitt-Bradford, Softball - Pitcher

    Uhing went 4-0 and threw every possible inning of her four starts in the team's 10-game Florida trip. In 26 innings of work, she boasted a 1.08 ERA, struck out 21, walked just three and allowed 24 hits. Her wins came against SUNY Canton, RIT, Curry and Knox.
  • Jenny Massey, Franciscan University, Softball - Player
    March 18, 2019
    Massey caught fire for the Lady Barons on their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. Massey hit .500 (13-for-26) in eight games, drove in seven runs and scored six times, while also going 3-for-4 on the base paths. She also recorded three doubles and two triples and was perfect in the outfield with four put outs. Massey struck out just once in 26 at bats.
  • Marisa McIntyre, Hilbert College, Softball - Pitcher

    McIntyre made seven appearances on the week, going 4-2 and pitching four complete games. McIntyre struck out 28 batters and recorded a 3.71 ERA. 
  • AJ Nichols, Penn State Behrend, Softball - Player
    March 11, 2019
    Nichols finished the week with a .379 batting average and eight RBI's. She had 11 hits including five doubles and one triple. Nichols had an obp of .438 for the week, as well as a .621 slugging percentage. Against Emerson, she had three hits in five at-bats including three RBI's with a .600 batting average. In addition to her work at the plate, Nichols picked up two wins in the circle for the Lions. 
  • Kerrigan Hoffman,Pitt-Bradford, Softball (Pitcher)

    Hoffmann got off to a strong start in the circle in 2019, dealing a complete-game victory in her first outing of the season and tossing a clean two innings of relief against the two-time defending national champion and No. 1 team in the country Virginia Wesleyan. In her victory against Southern Virginia, she struck out five and surrendered two runs on six hits while walking just two. And against Virginia Wesleyan, she tossed 2.2 innings and allowed just two hits and gave up no runs, keeping the Panthers in the game.
  • Liz Dzurisin, Pitt-Bradford, Softball (Player)
    March 04, 2019
    Dzurisin delivered the game-winning hit against Southern Virginia, a pinch-hit RBI single to put the Panthers up 3-2 and secure their first win of the season. She also went 5-for-9 for a .556 batting average with a double, two RBIs and a run scored on the week.

  • AMCC COACHES EXPECT BEHREND TO FINISH AT TOP OF SOFTBALL STANDINGS

    Penn St. Behrend, winners of eight AMCC softball titles, is expected to pick up another title this year, according to league coaches. Coaches look for Medaille College to finish in second, with 2018 AMCC Champion Mount Aloysius College rounding out the top three.

    Last weekend, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball team volunteered at the Bradford Manor Harvest Dinner.
