As the spring season continue to wind down, several AMCC teams have learned that their seasons aren't over yet as they continue to play in the NCAA national tournaments and the ECAC tournamet.

Softball NCAA Championship Tournament:
A day after winning its second consecutive AMCC Championship, the Mount Aloysius College softball team learned its destination for NCAA Tournament Regional Round. The Mounties (32-8) will be headed to Ewing, NJ to play in the regional hosted by The College of New Jersey (33-6) out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The other two teams in the regional bracket are Randolph-Macon College (26-14) from Ashland, VA and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and Arcadia University (31-12) from Glenside, PA and the Middle Atlantic Conference.

The teams will play in a four team double elimination style competition with the winner advancing to the Super Regional round beginning on Friday, May 10th. Game times and opponents will be announced shortly. In last year's trip to the NCAA Regional at St. Mary's College in South Bend, IN, the Mounties put in a strong showing, but were unable to come away with any wins as they fell to the hosts 6-1 and to Case Western Reserve 7-0.

Men's Tennis NCAA Championship Tournament:
After winning their seventh-straight AMCC title, the Franciscan University men's tennis team is headed to the NCAA Tournament once again. The Barons will travel to Baltimore, MD to take on John Carroll in the opening round. Franciscan once again posted a perfect regular season in the AMCC and earned the top seed in the conference tournament. The Barons captured their seventh-straight crown after defeating Mount Aloysius 5-2 in the championship match.

The Barons are currently 10-12 on the year and will take on John Carroll in the first-round game. The weekend's matches will be hosted by Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. It is the second time the Barons will head to Baltimore for the tournament.

Women's Tennis NCAA Championship Tournament:
For the third-straight season, the Franciscan women's tennis team captured the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship and will head to the NCAA Tournament. After earning the bid back in October, the Lady Barons have learned they are headed back to Fredericksburg, MD to take on Mary Washington on Friday. The Lady Barons wrapped up their regular season with a 16-5 overall record, including going 2-0 in the AMCC tournament. Franciscan once again had a perfect year in the AMCC with a 9-0 record against the conference opponents.

Men's Golf NCAA Championship Tournament:
The Pitt-Bradford men's golf team is set to compete in the 2019 Division III NCAA Championships next week at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky, hosted by Transylvania University. The Panthers won the AMCC championship in October with Jonny Fiore being named the individual medalist.

Other teams participating in postseason tournaments:

  • After an impressive run through the AMCC tournament, the Franciscan softball season isn't finished yet as the Lady Barons earned hosting rights for the first round of the ECAC Tournament. Franciscan will host Pfeiffer on Wednesday in Steubenville.
  • The Penn State Behrend softball team received their ninth overall bid to the ECAC DIII Softball Championships. The Lions are the top seed and will receive a first-round bye. Behrend will host the semifinal and championship rounds of the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The Lions will take on the winner of No. 5 Hunter and No. 4 Albright.
