AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR SEPTEMBER 12-18, 2022
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, cross country, tennis, men's golf, and women's volleyball for the period running from September 12-18, 2022.

Women's Soccer (Offensive): Mount Aloysius M Jasmine Hinton scored all three goals for the Mounties. She started it off by scoring the first Mountie goal of the season against Chatham, on a nice header into the top corner of the goal. Hinton then added her second and third goals of the year, in a game against Delaware Valley. She currently leads the Mounties in goals.
Men's Soccer (Offensive): Alfred State M Gavin Rice recorded and a goal and an assist in 1-0-1 week for the Pioneers, as he provided great production in the midfield. Rice crossed for an assist on the first goal of the game in a 3-1 win against Clarks Summit before scoring the game-tying goal against Thiel, as they finished the game knotted at 1-all.
Men's Soccer (Defensive): PS-Behrend D Justin LeDonne was the anchor of the Behrend defense that posted a pair of shut-out victories this week. The Lions held Grove City and Chatham to five shots on goal each. LeDonne also fired off a pair of shots against the Wolverines on Wednesday.
Women's Cross Country: PS-Behrend SR Savanna Carr led the Behrend Lions at their home invitational on Friday evening. The senior crossed the finish line 1:09 behind the leader for eighth place in 23:30. Her 6K time is good to take the top spot in the best times of the AMCC this season.
Men's Cross Country: Alfred State SR Gavin Bathgate paced the Pioneers in the Rochester Invitational 8k by crossing the finish line in 26:53.3, placing 31st out of 292 individuals.
Men's Golf: Mount Aloysius SO Luke Melisko shot consecutive rounds of 75, leading the Mounties to a third place finish in the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic. After a strong first day score that left him in a tie for 6th place, the sophomore followed it up with another 75. He came in second overall, falling to the leader by two strokes. It was his highest collegiate finish.
Women's Volleyball (Offensive): PS-Behrend OH Hannah Phillips averaged 4.14 kills per set in five matches this week for the Lions. She hit .352 overall and had double-digit kills in all but one match. Phillips registered .480 attack percentage in back-to-back matches. For the week, she tallied 58 kills, 21 digs, seven aces and six blocks.
Women's Volleyball (Defensive): Pitt-Bradford DS Stephanie Carson picked up 105 digs for Pitt-Bradford as the Panthers went 2-3 on the week. She also added four kills, eight assists, and six service aces. On day two of the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, hosted by Wooster, Carson picked up 34 digs in a loss to Westminster, and 24 more in the Panther's four-set victory over Capital.
Men's Tennis: Mount Aloysius SO Matt Jacobs started off the 2022-23 strong as he was undefeated in his first two matches. He won with dominated performances, only giving up two total points in singles and two total points in doubles. The sophomore accomplished this feat at #2 singles and #1 doubles, after playing most of last season in #5-6 singles and #3 Doubles.
Women's Tennis: PS-Behrend SR Erica Jasinski went undefeated (3-0) in singles action for the Lions this week, helping the team post a 2-1 record. The senior was a double winner in the top spots in the AMCC match against Altoona. Jasinski won in a tiebreaker set at No. 1 singles and also recorded an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
