AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR MARCH 29-APRIL 4
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of baseball, softball, men's volleyball, and men's golf for the period running from March 29-April 4, 2021.

Men's Volleyball: PS-Behrend OH Colin Dedert tallied double-digit kills in each match this week, knocking down a career-high 18 in a five-set win over Altoona to help the Lions clinch a playoff spot. For the week, he averaged 3.78 kills and 1.89 digs. Dedert tallied 17 digs, four blocks and four aces in two matches, averaging 4.6 points per set.
Baseball (Player): PS-Altoona 1B Catcher Cumming had a big day in the Lions' sweep of AMCC opponent Medaille on Saturday, including setting the Penn State Altoona baseball record for the most home runs hit in a single game. In game one, the senior first baseman went 1-for-2 with two RBI, two runs scored, and one double. In game two, Cumming was 3-for-5 with three home runs -- including a grand slam -- to set a new team record for the most homers in a game. He also finished the game with seven RBI and three runs scored. On the week, Cumming hit .571 (4-for-7) with nine RBI, five runs scored, three home runs, and one double. He posted a .556 on-base percentage, a 2.000 slugging percentage, and was perfect in the field with 15 putouts on 15 total chances.
Baseball (Pitcher): Hilbert JR Aydan Rolph had a big week for the Hawks, earning a pair of wins over two appearances on the mound. On Tuesday, Rolph picked up his second win of the season in a relief appearance against Hiram. The right-hander allowed one run and struck out four over two innings of work. On Friday, he tossed five shutout innings in his first start of the season to earn his AMCC-leading third win of the spring. Rolph scattered four hits over five innings of work and struck out two hitters, lowering his ERA to an impressive 0.77 for the season through 11.2 innings pitched.
Softball (Player): PS-Altoona C/3B Kristen Hewitt had a big day at the plate in the Lions' doubleheader with non-conference opponent Penn State Harrisburg last Tuesday. In game one, she went 2-for-4, and in game two, she was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored, one double, one triple, and one RBI. On the week, Hewitt hit .750 (6-for-8) with two runs scored, one double, one triple, and one RBI, posting a .750 on-base percentage and a 1.125 slugging percentage.
Softball (Pitcher): PS-Altoona SO Casey Reese was 1-0 in a pair of appearances for the Lions last week, during the team's non-conference doubleheader at Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday. She started game one and pitched a complete game for the win, going seven innings and limiting Harrisburg to one earned run while striking out five batters. In game two, Reese tossed 1 1/3 innings in relief in a no decision. On the week, the right-hander was 1-0 with a complete game and a 4.20 ERA, pitching 8 1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs, and striking out five batters.
Men's Golf: PS-Altoona SO Andrew Ferguson helped the Lions to a pair of wins in their first two events of the spring this past week. In a dual match victory at Penn State Berks last Monday, he carded an 87 in his first round with the Lions, tying for sixth place individually in a field of 12. In Saturday's first place finish for Penn State Altoona in the Behrend Invitational, he won the individual title out of 26 golfers by shooting 80. On the week, Ferguson averaged 83.5 in two rounds for Penn State Altoona.
