AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR APRIL 1-7, 2019
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's volleyball, baseball, lacrosse, tennis and women's softball for the period running from April 1-7, 2019.

Men's Volleyball: PS-Altoona MB Dan Downs had a strong week for the Lions, helping his team go 2-2 in AMCC matches. In Wednesday night's loss at Geneva, he had seven kills, one block assist, and one dig. He followed that up by combining for 21 kills, eight total blocks, and seven digs in victories over D'Youville and Medaille. In Sunday's loss to Wittenberg, Downs had 10 kills, three total blocks, and three digs. On the week, Downs hit at an impressive .476 clip and totaled 47.0 points (3.4 points per set). He racked up 38 kills (2.71 kills per set), 12 total blocks (0.86 blocks per set), and 11 digs (0.79 digs per set).
Men's Tennis: Franciscan JR Luke Conrad swept his AMCC matches this past week helping the Barons to their 52nd-straight AMCC regular season win. He went 3-0 in both No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles in conference play, picking up wins over Pitt-Greensburg, PS-Behrend, and Medaille. His only loss of the week came at No. 1 doubles/singles against Allegheny.
Softball (Player): Pitt-Bradford 2B/3B Maddy Hillery had a monster week at the plate, going 11-for-20 with five doubles, nine runs scored, and 12 RBI while helping Pitt-Bradford to a 5-1 week. She reached base at a .625 percentage, hit .550 (.615 in AMCC action) and slugged .800. Half of Hillery's doubles came during game two at Alfred State. Her six RBI are the program's most since the same amount was recorded in 2010 and is the third six-RBI game in program history. She also recorded a .905 fielding percentage in the infield for the Panthers.
Softball (Pitcher): Pitt-Bradford SO Jordan Uhing earned wins in all four of her appearances this week, defeating Hilbert, Alfred State and Franciscan with complete-game wins -- Hilbert and Alfred State wins coming as complete-game shutouts. In game two against Hilbert, she came on in relief in the sixth inning with the tying run at third base. She stranded the runner at third, her team took the lead in the seventh, and she shut Hilbert down in the bottom half to secure the victory and the sweep. At Alfred State, she tossed all seven innings allowing just one hit and striking out 10 Pioneers, the program's first double-digit strikeout game since 2014. In total, she tossed 20.1 innings allowing just four earned runs and striking out 18. Her ERA for the week was 1.38.
Baseball (Player): PS-Altoona JR Catcher Cumming had a monster week for the Lions, driving in 16 runs and recording three multi-hit games to help his team go 4-2 in AMCC play. On the week, he hit .500 (10-for-20) with 16 RBI, eight runs scored, three doubles, two home runs, two walks, and one stolen base. The junior slugged .950 and posted a .538 on-base percentage. In the field, Cumming was perfect, recording 52 putouts and one assist in 53 total chances. In game one against Hilbert, Cumming smacked a grand slam and recorded a total of eight RBI, which is tied for the most in a single game in Penn State Altoona baseball history. With a total of 12 combined RBI in the Hilbert doubleheader, Cumming set a Penn State Altoona baseball program record for the most RBI in a doubleheader in team history.
Baseball (Pitcher): Pitt-Greensburg SR Dakota McWilliams tossed four innings of relief where he did not allow a single hit, and struck out three. McWilliams threw two innings at Mount Union and totaled three strikeouts. He played a vital role in the 8-6 victory over Penn State Behrend when he was brought on in the eighth inning with bases loaded and no outs. McWilliams proceeded to get his first batter to ground into a double play and the next batter to fly out for the final out of the inning. He then sent all three batters down in order in the ninth to earn his first save of the season.
Men's Lacrosse (Offensive): Hilbert A Drew Werner had a career day in the Hawks win over Wells College as he finished with nine points which included a career-best seven assists. In a 1-1 week for Hilbert, he netted three goals and dished out nine assists for 12 points.
