BEHREND SWEEPS WXC TOP AWARDS; CARR THREE-PEATS AS AMCC RUNNER OF THE YEAR
Penn State Behrend senior Savanna Carr has been named the 2020 AMCC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year.
Penn State Behrend senior Savanna Carr has been named the 2020 AMCC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year. Carr won the AMCC Championship with a time of 24:18.88 in the 5K race. This marks Carr's third AMCC individual championship and runner of the year honors, also winning in 2017 and 2019 (she did not compete in 2018). She is a two-time NCAA championship qualifier. Carr is also a member of the track and field team and majors in mechanical engineering.
Newcomer of the Year honors goes to Behrend sophomore Izzy Spires. Spires is a first year member of the cross country team from Wattsburg, PA and is also a member of the track and field team. She was the top rookie finisher at the AMCC Women's Cross Country Invitational, crossing the 5K finish line in 25:39.41.
Penn State Behrend head coach Greg Cooper has been named the AMCC Coach of the year for the seventh time in his career. He has been the head coach at Behrend for 13 seasons.
