PITT-GREENSBURG'S ODDIS TAKES FIRST PLACE AT WCCC CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL
Pitt-Greensburg junior Kelsey Oddis won her first career race to pace the Pitt-Greensburg Cross Country team as it competed in the Westmoreland County Community College Invitational on Saturday morning.
Pitt-Greensburg junior Kelsey Oddis won her first career race to pace the Pitt-Greensburg Cross Country team as it competed in the Westmoreland County Community College Invitational on Saturday morning.
Oddis was the first of 38 competitors to finish the race in the women's competition, crossing the finish line with a time of 21:36.7. As a team, the Bobcats finished in third place with 66 points. Freshman Brittany Good also put together a great race for UPG taking home a top-15 finish with a time of 27:49.1 Mount Aloysius freshman Lauren Schrader and junior Cynthia Santoyo both took home top five finishes, coming in 4th and 5th places, respectively. Schrader crossed the finish line in 23:00.1 with Santoyo coming in at 24:19.8.
Frostburg State took home the team title with a total of 21 points and had runners finish in second and third place. Carol Gotte took second place with a time of 22:07.4, while teammate Faith Thackston finished right behind her (22:47.4).
On the men's side, Pitt-Greensburg sophomore Daniel Spanner led the Bobcats for a second week in a row, completing the race in 19:26.3. As a team, UPG finished in third with 72 points, which was four points behind second place Penn State Fayette (68). Mount Aloysius freshman Majeh Alzahrani was the top finisher for the Mounties, crossing the finish line in 36th place with a time of 23:56.9.
Frostburg State took home the men's team title with 21 points, including having runners finish 1-2. Robert Romano finished in first (17:16.4), while teammate Xavier Alvarez took second, crossing the finish line in 17:54.6.
