HIRAM WINS INAUGURAL AMCC WOMEN'S WRESTLING INVITATIONAL
The Hiram College women's wrestling team had a strong day at the first ever AMCC Invitational on Saturday inside Hiram's Price Gymnasium, with the team taking down first place in the conference and five different student-athletes winning first place in each of their individual weight classes.

Hiram finished in first place with 66.5 points, while Alfred State College was second with 57. Buffalo State University scored 45.5 points for third place, while Penn State Altoona rounded out the field with 26 points.
Hiram senior Kylee Bentley (110 lbs) and Buffalo State University freshman Brooke Tarshis (131) were named the event's Co-Outstanding Wrestlers.
In addition to Bentley winning the 110 weight class, Hiram's Lexi Doerflinger (117 lbs), Mallory Chunat (138 lbs), Allydia Byard (160 lbs) and Erika Novak (180 lbs) all won their respective weight classes, as well.
Bentley beat her Buffalo State opponent by technical fall (12-0) and a Hiram teammate by fall in 1:46 to finish first in the 110-lb bracket. With the event being in a round robin format, Bentley needed both of those wins to secure first place and the all-conference honor.
Two Pioneers won their respective weight classes to help propel Alfred State to their second place finish. In the 124 class, Dianna Pineda took first place, as she opened the day with a 31 second fall over her Buffalo State opponent. Then in the championship match, she notched a 1:36 fall over an ASC teammate. Freshman Emily Brown took first in the 145-weight class For Alfred State.
For Buffalo State, Tarshis and Rosaliz Aponte finished first and second in the 131 lbs. class, respectively. Hailey Hankinson finished second in the 117 lbs. class for the Bengals.
Each of Penn State Altoona's three wrestlers earned medals. Aja'nai Jumper won first place in the AMCC at 207, Camryn Steinbuch was the conference runner-up at 180, and Angelina Grieb placed third at 160.
