Alfred State College senior OH Racquel Gerstenberger has been named the AMCC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year.
Alfred State College senior OH Racquel Gerstenberger has been named the AMCC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year. Gerstenberger reached the 1,000 career kill mark this season and is on the cusp of 1,000 Career Digs. She led the team in kills, points, aces & digs, while also ranking third in the AMCC with 3.68 kills per set on the season (including 4.15 kills per set in conference play ). She finished the regular season ranked first in the AMCC in aces per set on the season (0.62 service aces per set) and was second in the AMCC in points per set with 4.3.
Penn State Behrend freshman OH Cadence Jones has been tabbed as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Jones ranked 12th in NCAA DIII statistics in total kills (431) and ranked first in the AMCC in kills per set (3.95), total kills (431) and points (508.5). Jones is also fourth in attack percentage (.264), while ranking first in these three categories in conference play. Jones registered 12 double-doubles this season and also broke the Penn State Behrend single-season kills record. She ranked second in conference play in service aces with 23.
Coach of the Year honors goes to Alfred State head coach Gene Doorley. Doorley picks up the honor for the first time in his career after leading the Pioneers to a 7-1 conference record, along with a share of the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the AMCC championship tournament.
