ALFRED STATE EARNS TOP SEED IN AMCC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
The 2022 AMCC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament kicks off on Wednesday evening with first round match-ups.
The 2022 AMCC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament kicks off on Wednesday evening with first round match-ups. #6 La Roche University will travel to #3 Mount Aloysius College, while #4 Pitt-Bradford hosts #5 Penn State Altoona. Regular season champion Alfred State College will be the top seed and will receive a first round bye, along with second seed Penn State Behrend.
The Alfred State College women's volleyball team, with a perfect 7-0 record, has claimed their first-ever AMCC regular season title and hosting rights for the championship round of the tournament. Senior Keturah Gregory tops the AMCC with a .366 hitting percentage, while also leading the Pioneers with 246 kills and 2.76 kills per set. She also ranks sixth in the conference with 0.56 blocks per set. Junior OH Racquel Gerstenberger is right behind Gregory in the kills category, with 242 total kills and 2.72 kills per set. Junior Nayomie Ferrer Santiago leads the conference wtih 0.81 service aces per set, while ranking third with 7.26 assists per set. Freshman Adeline Milligan tops the Pioneers with 291 digs and 3.27 digs per set.
With a 5-2 record in conference play, defending AMCC champion Penn State Behrend enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed. Junior OH Hannah Phillips leads the Behrend attack, as she tops the conference with 298 kills and 3.39 kills per set. Senior OH Brooke Joncas ranks fourth with 2.98 kills per set, while senior MH Sarah Cole ranks second with a .279 hitting percentage. Freshman OH Sara Nobach's 367 digs are good for second-best in the AMCC, while her 4.17 digs per set are third. Junior S Meg Goodsel is fourth in the league with 5.59 assists per set.
Mount Aloysius College has earned the No. 3 seed with a 4-3 record in conference play. The Mounties won the tiebreaker between 4-3 teams due to their record in head-to-head matches. The Mountie offense is led by senior OH Ashlee Parrish with 2.44 kills per set, while she also adds 3.25 digs per set to lead her team. Freshman L Kadence Della Valle ranks third in the AMCC with 0.52 service aces per set while sophomore MH Emily Henry's 0.62 blocks per set are fourth-best in the league.
Also with a 4-3 conference record, and beating out PS-Altoona in the tiebreaker in head-to-head matches, is No. 4 Pitt-Bradford. The Panthers are looking for their first conference title since 2018. Sophomore OH Olivia Reese ranks second in the conference with 286 kills and is third with 3.18 kills per set. Sophomore DS Kayla Maslowski tops the AMCC with 397 digs and is second with 4.18 digs per set. Senior S Tabitha Walker averages 8.29 assists per set, good for second in the league.
Penn State Altoona enters the tournament as the No. 5 seed, after completing the regular season with a 4-3 record. Senior L Erin Lutz leads the AMCC with 4.19 digs per set, while senior OH Lydia Mock ranks second in the conference with 3.26 kills per set and is fifth with 3.76 digs per set. Senior S Kayla Moran tops the league with 8.69 assists per set.
Rounding out the championship field with a 3-4 conference mark is No. 6 La Roche. Sophomore MH Quinn Hughes ranks first in the AMCC with 1.11 blocks per set while junior S Madison Johnson is fourth in the conference with 0.46 service aces per set.
First round games will take place on Wednesday, November 2 at 7pm with #6 La Roche at #3 Mount Aloysius and #5 Penn State Altoona at #4 Pitt-Bradford.
