AMCC Women's Volleyball Game of the Week
La Roche College at Franciscan University

With identical 4-1 conference records, this week's AMCC women's volleyball game of the week features two teams battling it out for one of the top spots in league standings. La Roche College (9-15, 4-1 AMCC) travels to Steubenville, OH on Tuesday evening to take on Franciscan University (5-13, 4-1 AMCC), as both teams are trying to secure the top seed heading into the conference tournament.
La Roche junior outside hitter Laura Nath leads a potent offensive attack. Last season, Nath led the conference in kills and her 4.38 kills per set were the ninth most in AMCC history. Her strong performance continued into this season where she was named AMCC Preseason Player of the Year and currently leads the conference in kills and kills per set. She was last week’s AMCC Player of the Week. Sophomore libero Hannah Scott and Christine and Janet Aland pace the Redhawk defense. Scott is coming off an impressive rookie campaign where she was named Newcomer of the Year. Last season, Scott led the AMCC in digs and digs per set which ranked third and second respectively in AMCC history. Janet and Christine Aland drive the defense at the net. Janet ranks second in the AMCC in blocks and Christine seventh. The offense runs through setters Sarah Storino and Maddie Gestrich. AMCC All-Conference performer Toni Torchia is extremely versatile and provides senior leadership.
The Lady Barons look to secure their seventh-straight AMCC tournament appearance this season. Leading the way is junior outside hitter Maria Ciola. The Burk, VA native is currently third in the conference averaging 2.90 kills per set and has 177 kills this season. Freshman middle Meagan Bayer is having a standout season upfront as she has 119 kills so far this year, averaging 1.86 kills per set. Freshman setter Sydney Riley is currently eighth in the conference with 329 total assists but leads the league averaging 7.31 assists per set. Riley is coming off a career day against Mount Aloysius where she handed out 45 assists.The 45-assist performance ranks her fourth all-time in a single match and is her highest assist total by six.
