The Lions tallied 175 points in the first two days of the meet to remain in first place heading into the final day of competition. Cabrini is in second with 126 points and Penn St. Altoona is third with 96. Pitt-Bradford sits fourth (81) and Franciscan is fifth (41).
Lion Sophomore Gwendolyn Lowery was the first women's swimmer to set a new AMCC open, meet and team record during the championships. She won the 200 free with a record-setting time of 1:57.95. Lowery then won her second title of the night in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 1:01.66.
Behrend sophomore Maryn Horn captured the gold in the 100 breaststroke with a top time of 1:14.58. Horn, along with teammates Lowery, Jessica Wyckoff, and Kristen Owens, combined for a time of 1:56.00 for first place in the 200 medley relay.
The Cabrini foursome of junior Christina Melchiorre, junior Allison Stein, freshman Marissa Loro, and sophomore Brooke Hagan, claimed the gold in the 800 yard freestyle relay.
AMCC swimmers and divers return to action tomorrow for the final day of the championships. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
