BEHREND WOMEN'S SOCCER CROWNED AMCC CHAMPIONS
The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team defeated Pitt-Greensburg 7-0 on Saturday afternoon to claim their 18th overall AMCC Championship title. Lizzie Hoff and Sydney Felton each had a pair of goals to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer to victory at Behrend Stadium.
The win marks the third straight championship the Lions have not given up a goal against the Bobcats. After scoring two goals in the first half, Behrend exploded for five goals in the second for the AMCC Title.
Rori Kostos got the Lions on the board at the 14:30 mark with her eighth goal of the season, as she scored off a deflection in the box, sending the ball in the bottom right corner. Hoff scored the next two goals for a 3-0 lead; her first came in the first half and another five minutes after halftime. Bri Ross started the play to get the Lions up by two, sending the ball from the endline to the other side of the six to find Hoff. Rachel Sickeri assisted Hoff and then scored her sixth of the season off a pass from Andrade to make it 4-0 in the 54th minute. Andrade got her ninth goal on an unassisted tally five minutes later for a five-goal margin. Felton added two cushion goals at the end of the second half.
The Behrend Lions held a 24-4 shot advantage over the Bobcats. Goalkeeper Riley Morningstar puts herself one shutout away from tying her single-season record for shutouts with 12.
The Lions have now won three straight AMCC crowns, earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Lions will await the NCAA Division III Tournament selection show on Monday at 11 a.m.
