The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team has been chosen by league coaches to claim the AMCC conference title in 2024. Pitt-Greensburg, the defending conference champion, is expected to finish in second place, while Mount Aloysius College rounds out the top three in preseason rankings.
Pitt-Greensburg junior F Maya Wertelet has been tabbed as the AMCC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Wertelet was the 2023 AMCC Offensive Player of the Year and an AMCC all-conference first team selection. She led the conference in points (40) and goals scored (19) last season, while being tied for first in game-winning goals with four. She recorded four multi-goal games on the season and tied the school record for most goals in a game with four. Wertelet notched 16 goals and 34 points during AMCC play, ranking her first in both categories.
Penn State Behrend senior D Nicole Croushore has been selected as the AMCC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. She was AMCC all-conference first team selection last season. Croushore led a defense that only allowed two goals for a .22 goals-against average (GAA), while posting seven shutouts in conference play to lead the conference in both these categories.
The AMCC championship will be held November 9 at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
