The AMCC Women's Soccer Game of the Week features the La Roche University Redhawks (1-0) traveling to Erie, PA to take on the Penn State Behrend Lions (1-0).
La Roche opened up the conference season last weekend with a bang. The team was able to take the field by storm and pull out a 4-0 win. Freshman goalie, Jules Hornikel was also able to pull off her first ever shutout. That victory but the Redhawks 1-0 in conference play. Hornikel was recently named AMCC Defensive Player of the Week, but the newcomer also recorded her 100th save this season in the team’s most recent match up against division one opponent Robert Morris. The Redhawks average 1.33 goals per game, and 8 shots per game. Leading La Roche in goals is Alexandra Mecchia with four, and shortly behind is Alexis Nudds with three.
Penn State Behrend started off their conference schedule with a 1-0 victory over Mount Aloysius College last Saturday. Junior F/M Mia Zec leads the Lions, and ranks sixth in the AMCC, with six goals on the season, while freshman F Lizzie Hoff is tops in the conference with four assists. Goalkeeper Morgan Harding carries a .612 save percentage with 41 saves on the year. As a team, Behrend is tied for second in the AMCC with 21 goals this season.
