The AMCC women's soccer conference schedule kicks off this Saturday, with the D'Youville College Spartans @ Penn St. Altoona Lions being the first women's soccer Game of the Week for the 2019 season. The game features two solid programs that both made post-season appearances in the AMCC tournament a season ago.
Despite dropping their two most recent outings, D'Youville enters the game with a 3-3 overall record. The Spartans are led by a balanced offensive attack, as junior F Cassie Brooks, junior F Makenna Magee, freshman F Aussie Mariacher, and freshman M Jordan Pachla all have two goals a piece on the season. Sophomore GK Laurie Poeller ranks second in the AMCC with 43 saves and carries a .782 save percentage.
The Lady Lions picked up a 3-1 victory over Juniata College on Wednesday, and currently stand at 2-3-1 on the season. Sophomore F Sadie McConnell leads her team, and ranks third in the conference, with three goals and 11 points, while also adding a second-best three assists. Freshman M KK Wolfe has also chipped in with two goals. Defensively, freshman keeper Kaitlyn Harmon leads the charge, as she ranks fourth in the conference with 36 saves and third with a .857 save percentage.
