Penn State Behrend, with eight first place votes, has been selected by AMCC coaches to successfully defend their 2015 conference title. Pitt Bradford was voted to finish second and Pitt-Greensburg likely to take third.
For the second straight year, Penn State Behrend senior forward Alex Bilka was tabbed as the 2016 AMCC Pre-Season Offensive Player of the Year. The reigning AMCC Player of the Year netted a conference-best 17 goals and 11 assists for a school-record 45 points last season. She was named Behrend's first-ever NSCAA All-American and set new school records for career points (113), career goals (45) and single-season assists (11). Bilka was first team all-region and an ECAC South All-Star.
Penn State Behrend junior Rachel Weyand was selected as the 2016 AMCC Pre-Season Defensive Player of the Year. Weyand was a first team all-conference selection and an ECAC All-Star last season. She started 20 games and scored four goals and six assists, including three game-winners as a defender.
The AMCC championship will be held November 5 at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
