The La Roche College women's soccer team went on the road for the first time in conference play and came back with a 3-0 shutout win at Franciscan University. The Redhawks improve to 4-0 in conference action and Coach Miguel Lozano earned his 200thcareer victory.
Coach Lozano reflected on his milestone victory after the game. "I'd like to thank all of my players from over the past eighteen years. This win is because of their hardwork and devotion and I wouldn't be here without them."
The Redhawks gave Coach Lozano an early cushion. Junior Vanessa Ceravolo got things started in the twelfth minute taking a feed from freshman forward Allesandra Perri and then booting a ball past the Franciscan goalkeeper. Five minutes later, V. Ceravolo slipped through the Franciscan defense and buried a shot in the lower right corner.
The Franciscan offense started to bring pressure in the second half, but the La Roche defense held their ground. Perri sealed the victory in the seventy-fourth minute scoring on a pass from senior midfielder Morgan Bullock.
The Redhawks outshot Franciscan 13-11.
La Roche will travel to Buffalo, NY this Saturday at 1pm. They will take on the Hilbert Hawks in what is marked as the AMCC game of the week.
