Savitz (165) was the individual champion at 165 in the freshman/sophomore bracket at the Lycoming Tournament on Sunday. Competing in his first collegiate tournament, Savitz posted back-to-back pins at 165 (1:15, 4:27) before claiming a 4-1 decision to advance to the finals. Savitz recorded his team-leading third pin in the championship match , defeating Wesley Guzman of Oneonta by pin in 6:59.

BEST OF THE REST: Pitt-Bradford SR Raymond Worsen III (157) got his senior season off to a strong start, winning all three of his matches at the Pitt-Bradford Quadmatch by pin, he finished off all three opponents in the first period, pinning the first in 2:32, the second in 1:31, and the third in 0:55, leading the Panthers to a perfect 3-0 start to the season...Alfred State SR Sean Malenfant (184) was the Pioneers' highest place finish at third in the 184 bracket, he opened with a tech fall over Trey Shoemaker (Shippensburg) in 6:39 and a 3-1 decision over Alex Ward (Kutztown), he then followed with a quarterfinal win by fall over Jesse Rappazzo (Alvernia University) in 1:41. After suffering a loss in the semifinal, Malenfant bounced back with a win by fall over Jesse Rappazzo (Alvernia University) in 2:40...PS-Altoona SO Andrew Weaver (174) went 2-2 in Sunday's season opening ESU Open, as he had a bye in the first round before posting a 6-1 win by fall over Union College's Vito Giannetta in the next round, he followed that up with a 6-0 win by decision over high school senior Gavin Geleta to move to the quarterfinals of the bracket, where he took his first loss, 3-0 by fall, to USMAPS Evan Roudebush. In the consolation round of eight, Weaver was handed a 3-0 loss by fall by Bloomsburg University's Hassin Maynes.
