Thompson pinned his first two opponents before falling to the No. 6 wrestler in the country at his weight class. He followed that up with a major decision win and then secured third place with a 10-9 decision victory. He led the Panthers to their highest invitational finish in program history (6th) and their highest point total at an invitational (71.0).

BEST OF THE REST: Penn JR Noah Hunt finished third at the Doug Parker Invitational Saturday at a tournament that featured five top-25 teams and helped the Wildcats place seventh. The No. 4 seed at 141-pounds, Hunt out-placed his seed with a 4-1 record and a bronze medal. His weekend was highlighted with a technical fall over regionally ranked Shailen Savur, of Wesleyan University. Hunt finished the tournament with win via two pins, a technical fall, and a medical forfeit.
