BEHREND WRESTLING NAMED AMCC DUAL MEET CHAMPIONS
The Penn State Behrend wrestling team was named the AMCC Dual-Meet Champions, closing out the regular-season conference matches with a wins over Alfred State College and Penn College of Technolgy on Saturday.
The Behrend Lions also earned in-season victories over Pitt-Bradford (38-12) on November 18 and Penn State Altoona (54-6) on December 3, as they went 4-0 in AMCC dual meet action.
In second place was Penn College with a 3-1 record and Alfred State rounded out the top three, going 2-2 in AMCC action. Pitt-Bradford finished in fourth place with a 1-3 record and Penn State Altoona rounded out the field, going 0-4.
Zach Dellinger, Abraham Keep and Mason Savitz were all double winners on the day for Behrend. In the Lions' second match of the day, Keep delivered a key fall at 197 in just 17 seconds to put the match out of reach for Penn. Tech.
Three Penn College wrestlers, Blake Dergham (133), Chase Shaner (141) and Carter Davis (165), finished the day with 3-0 records. Shaner took down his Pitt-Bradford opponent in 18 seconds.
Alfred State's Sean Malenfant's forfeit win against Pitt-Bradford gave him his 118th career win, as he became the new career wins leader in program history.
DJ Slovick recorded three wins on the day for Pitt-Bradford. The senior earned his 99th career win with a pin at 2:09 in the 174 lb weight class in his match against Alfred State.
Gonzalo Santana Hernandez and Andrew Weaver competed for the Altoona Lions against Alfred State and Pitt-Bradford.
