Medaille College claimed their third straight AMCC women's bowling title and earned the conference's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA national tournament. The Mavericks entered Sunday with a 2-0 record after defeating Pitt-Bradford and Mount Aloysius the first two days of the tournament.
However, Mount Aloysius did not make things easy for the Mavericks. The Mounties got things rolling early, as they took the 1-0 lead in traditional play with an 898-852 victory over Medaille. The Mounties' Rayissa Amon led all bowlers with a 213, while fellow teammate Casey Schaffer added a 210. Carla Hansen led the Mavericks with a 176 in the opening game.
Medaille rallied back in the Baker 5 game TPF, taking the series 863-823 to force the best-of-seven Baker tiebreaker series.
Both teams fought hard, taking the series to all seven games. The Mounties drew first blood, taking the 188-143 victory in game one before the Mavs came back, defeating the Mount 183-112 to take game two and even things out at one-all. Mount Aloysius took the next two games, 146-141 and 197-159, to take the commanding 3-1 lead after four games. However, Medaille wouldn't back down, as the Mavs took games five and six, 224-166 and 186-155, sending the series to the seventh and deciding game. The Mounties came out on top of game seven, 170-148, giving them the overall victory in Match #6 and forcing the final best-of-seven series to crown the conference champion.
Medaille took game one 162-145 before Mount Aloysius answered with a 198-160 victory to even the final series. Medaille ran away with the next three games, defeating the Mounties 202-178, 228-186, and 172-149 to be crowned the 2019 AMCC women's bowling champion.
