MEDAILLE AND MOUNT ALOYSIUS ADVANCE TO THE WINNERS BRACKET IN AMCC BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The AMCC bowling championship kicked off Friday afternoon as #1 Medaille College faced #4 Pitt-Bradford and #2 Mount Aloysius College took on #3 Saint Vincent College at Sim's Lanes in Beaver Falls, PA.
The AMCC bowling championship kicked off Friday afternoon as #1 Medaille College faced #4 Pitt-Bradford and #2 Mount Aloysius College took on #3 Saint Vincent College at Sim's Lanes in Beaver Falls, PA. Medaille and Mount Aloysius took home the opening night victories in the mega match tournament and will face off tomorrow in the double elimination tournament. Saint Vincent and Pitt-Bradford will head to the losers bracket, and will also square off Saturday morning.
Medaille won the first two matches over Pitt-Bradford, as they downed the Panthers 784-754 in the traditional format and 766-689 in the TPF Baker five game series. Liz Minnard led the Mavericks with a 190 in the opening match of the first round.
Saint Vincent pulled out the W in the opening match, defeating the Mounties 940-928 in the traditional game. Meghan Christman led the Bearcats with a 215, while Mount Aloysius' Kaitlyn Klein recorded a 233, the highest game of the traditional format. Mount Aloysius fought back to win the five game Baker series, 892-777, to even the mega match at one-all.
The Bearcats and Mounties then squared off in the best-of-seven Baker series tiebreaker. Saint Vincent took game one 180-177 before Mount Aloysius came back with the 171-155 victory. The Bearcats won game three 174-173 before the Mounties once again evened the series with a 176-170 triumph. Saint Vincent won game five 203-185 to take the 3-2 lead. However, it was the Mounties who refused to go away, as they won the final two games 177-152 and 189-146 to take the best-of-seven series and claim victory in first round competition. Saint Vincent's Dani Koehler struck out in the tenth frames of games three and five to lead them from a come from behind victory in both matches.
