Pitt-Bradford will play host to the inaugural AMCC women's bowling championship this weekend at Byllye Lanes. The AMCC is the first NCAA Division III conference in the nation to sponsor women's bowling as a championship sport.
Medaille College is the top seed by virtue of a pair of regular season quad wins that were decided by tiebreakers. Senior Ashley Marthage, who posted a 193.3 average at the January quad, will lead the Mavericks. Penn St. Altoona is the #2 seed, finishing second in both quad matches. The Lions will rely on freshman Brea Suchonic to set the pace. She averaged a 170 at the St. Francis Red Flash Invitational this past weekend. Pitt-Bradford is #3 and Mount Aloysius College #4. Both teams are in their first year of intercollegiate competition. The Panthers will look for a strong effort from junior Sarah Foley, who rolled a 224 at the St. Francis Invitational. The Mounties see leadership potential in freshman Courtney Sable, who averaged a 150 at St. Francis in the team competition and 12.52 per frame in the Baker format.
