Penn State Behrend has been tabbed by league coaches to finish at the top of the women’s basketball standings in 2023-24. The Lions will be looking for their first conference title since 2004. Three-time defending champions La Roche University is expected to finish second with Penn State Altoona rounding out the top three.
Penn State Behrend junior guard Rachel Majewski has been named the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. Majewski was an AMCC all-conference first team and All-ECAC second team selection a season ago. She helped the Lions advance to the AMCC Championship game and earn a bid to the ECAC Tournament. She led the team and conference in scoring with 18.6 points per game, ranked fourth in three-point percentage in the AMCC with 33.6 percent and was in the Top 10 in field-goal percentage with 41.8 percent. Majewski scored double-digit points in every game, dropping a career-high 30 against Altoona on 1/21/23.
The AMCC Championship will be held Saturday, February 24 at the site of the number one seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
