The La Roche University Redhawks will travel to Altoona, PA on Thursday evening to take on the Lions of Penn State Altoona in the AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week.
La Roche enters the game with a perfect 6-0 record in conference play. The Redhawks have won seven straight, including a narrow 65-64 win over Hilbert on Saturday evening. Senior G Danajah Sanders leads the team, and ranks fourth in the AMCC, with 16.5 points per game. Senior G Machia Hairston just narrowly misses averaging a double-double, as she ranks second in the conference with 9.9 rebounds per game while also chipping in with 13.9 points per game. Sophomore G/F Makayla Abram averages 13.2 points per game while shooting 47.6% from the field. As a team, the Redhawks rank second in the AMCC scoring 70.0 points per game.
Penn State Altoona sits in second place in the AMCC with a 5-1 record. The Lions are looking to bounce back, as they started off conference play winning five straight before dropping their most recent game to Penn State Behrend on Saturday. The Lions are led by freshman F Avana Sayles, who averages 14.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, ranking her in the top 10 in the conference in both categories. Also averaging in double figures for Altoona is freshman G Jess Burns and senior G Sarah Huston, who contribute 12.9 and 11.9 points per game, respectively. Burns ranks second in the conference with a 41.3 three-point shooting percentage, knocking down 33 threes on the year.
