ALVERNIA UPSETS BEHREND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL IN ECAC FIRST ROUND
The No. 5 Alvernia University (18-10) women's basketball team defeated No. 4 Penn State Behrend (21-7) 80-67 in the first round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships on Wednesday night at the Junker Center.

The Golden Wolves outscored the Lions 27-19 in the third quarter to make the difference and keep their season alive. Alvernia knocked down seven triples in the second half, while shooting 61.1 percent in the third quarter to win the inaugural game against the Lions. Behrend erased the five-point halftime deficit to make it 38-all in the first minute of the third quarter on a pair of Morgan Altavilla free throws. By the 3:51 mark, Alvernia took a double-digit lead and didn't look back. Julia Balaski tied a season-high 14 points for the Lions. Behrend had four other players with double-figure points. Altavilla registered her first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while adding five assists. Brianna Dean posted her fourth double-double of the season in her career finale, as she tied a season-best 12 rebounds to go with 12 points and three steals. Madilyn Boyer and Rachel Majewski tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively. Taliyah Malone led all scorers with four three-pointers for 16 points for Alvernia.
