The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team will travel to La Roche University on Saturday to take on the Redhawks in the AMCC Game of the Week.
The Pitt-Greensburg women’s basketball team enters Saturday’s AMCC road contest at La Roche with an overall record of 4-6 and a 2-3 mark in conference play. The Bobcats have won three of the past four matchups against the Redhawks. Pitt-Greensburg currently leads the conference in offensive rebounds (17.5) as well as total rebounds (46.9) and have outrebounded its opponents in all but three games so far this season. Individually, Nadege Durand (12.5) and Maddie Sitler (12.2) lead the team in scoring and after leading the conference in rebounds last season, Durand has continued her mastery of the boards this season, hauling down 10.6 boards per game.
La Roche, currently 4-0 vs. AMCC opponents, sits atop the standings as the only team still undefeated against conference opponents. Against the AMCC, the Redhawks have averaged 73.0 points per game (2nd in AMCC) despite not having any players rank in the top 10 in overall scoring. The well-balanced unit has five players that average between 7.9 to 12.4 points per game. Preseason Player of the Year, senior forward Jenna Cole, has averaged 14.3 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game in conference play. Junior guard Ayanna Mazyck, a transfer from Harford CC in Philadelphia, leads the team in rebounds per game (7.4) and ranks first in the AMCC in steals per game (3.9). Mazyck recently put up her first double-double (10 points, 13 rebounds) as a Redhawk in a 57-51 victory over Medaille on December 14th. Sophomore forward Dasja Anderson leads the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game while also collecting 5.8 rebounds per game (2nd on team). The former third team AMCC All-Conference selection has scored 10 or more points and corralled five or more rebounds in four of the Redhawks last five games. LRU has played exceptionally well on defense this season, holding their opponents to 59.9 points per game (Best in AMCC) while averaging 11.6 steals per game (2nd in AMCC).
