BERHEND SOFTBALL REGIONAL RUN CUT SHORT
The Penn State Behrend softball team was eliminated from the 2026 NCAA Division III Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon, falling to Huntingdon College 5-0 in the second game of the championships.
The Hawks advanced in the tournament thanks to the shut-out victory behind the pitching of Allie Roberts and McKenzie Little. Huntingdon held a 13-3 advantage in hits and pushed five runs across home plate. The Hawks scored twice in the second inning on a two-run single from Payton Gilchrist, then added an unearned run in the third. Huntingdon extended the lead in the fifth with an RBI triple from Kylie Stephens and an RBI double by Kate Dinkel. Behrend managed three hits in the game, getting singles from Izabel Pozar, Alexia Brown, and Karma Malcolm.
The Lions threatened in the first and third innings with runners in scoring position but stranded five total. The Hawks had multi-hit efforts from Dinkel, Riley Rudick, Kinley Hutto, and Stephens.
Behrend starter Abby Tingley held Huntingdon scoreless over the final two innings and struck out three.
The Lions finish the season with a 28-13 overall record.
