BEHREND SOFTBALL HEADED TO TEXAS LUTHERAN FOR NCAA REGIONALS
The Penn State Behrend softball team will travel to Sequin, Texas for the 2026 NCAA Division III Regional on May 14-16 hosted by Texas Lutheran University at Ed Kruse Stadium. The fourth-seed Lions (28-11) will face top-seed and the hosts Bulldogs (38-4) in the first round on Thursday at 11 a.m.
Second-seed Huntingdon (31-10) will battle third-seed Trinity (TX) in the second game of the day at 1:30 p.m. The tournament is double elimination with the winner advancing to the super regionals, which will take place from May 22-23.
Thursday's winners will play game three at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, while the losing teams from Thursday will meet in game four shortly after. Friday's games will conclude with the loser of game three and the winner of game four in a win-or-go-home meeting. The start time for Saturday's regional final is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m.
The Lions won their 12th AMCC championship with three straight wins in the tournament, including an 8-7 victory on Saturday in the title game against Penn State Altoona. Behrend earned the conference's automatic bid to make its 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs, ranked eighth in Division III the NCAA Power Index, secured their 22nd Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship with an 8-1 win over Ozarks, clinching the league's automatic bid. This is the first time since 2022 and fourth time overall Texas Lutheran has hosted a regional.
There are 64 teams that are competing in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament. There are 15 four-team regional sites. Forty-two conferences received automatic bids (Pool A). Twenty-two schools were selected on an at-large basis from the automatic qualifying conferences and one independent institution in Pool B.
Tickets will be available at Ed Kruse Stadium. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens (65 and older), $5 for children, and children two and under are free per day. A tournament pass can also be purchased for $40 for adults or $30 for seniors for access to all games for the weekend.
