#2 Pitt-Bradford vs. #7 La Roche University
After being swept last Saturday in the regular season finale by Pitt Bradford, the Redhawks returned nine days later to sweep the Panthers in the AMCC quarterfinals. La Roche took both games 1-0, their only shutout wins of the season. Senior Alexa Young had some of the best performances of her career in two complete game shuouts. In 15.0 innings of work, Young had 12 strike-outs, zero walks, seven hits and no earned runs. Young has pitched an AMCC-high 12 complete games this season. Alexis Myers knocked in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth of game one and Brandi Clyde hit an RBI single to seal the deal in the top of the seventh of game two.
#3 Mount Aloysius College vs. #6 Pitt-Greensburg
The Mount Aloysius softball team extended their season as they swept the first two games of a best-of-three series against Pitt-Greensburg, guarenteeing them a spot in the AMCC Semifinals. Kayla Diehl produced two hits and three RBIs, on the day, including her first career home run. In Game Two, she scored three runs for Mount Aloysius. Abby Reitz added to her team leading stats, as she drove in five runs, giving her 24 RBIs on the season. In Game Two, she hit two triples, giving her a team-high, six on the season. She also dropped her ERA to 2.28, good for second in the league.
#4 Medaille College vs. #5 Penn State Altoona
After a shaky start to its day, the Penn State Altoona softball team bounced back to win Monday's AMCC Tournament first round best-of-three series over Medaille College. Four seed Medaille (9-10) capitalized on Penn State Altoona miscues in game one to prevail 8-2. But the fifth-seeded Lions (11-11-1) responded by staying alive with a 10-7 win in game two, then earning an 11-3 run rule victory in game three to take the series. Casey Reese and Makenzie Lukehart each picked up a win in the circle for the Lions.
