The Pitt-Bradford women’s
volleyball and softball teams each participated in
decorating the CARE for Children agency on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Under
the guidance of head coach Tina Phillips, the student-athletes
spent nearly two hours decorating. The players broke up into
groups, each with different duties. One group stayed upstairs and
hung lights and ornaments on the main tree visible when children
and parents enter the building. A separate group was responsible
for decorating smaller trees that will stand individually
throughout the building. A third group spent time downstairs
entertaining some of the children on hand.
CARE for Children is an agency that was founded in 1924 by
local government, the school districts and area Rotary Clubs to
better assist crippled children. The organization originally
transitioned from the McKean County Easter Seals Society and grew
into CARE for Children. The agency is currently working to make a
difference in the lives of children in rural McKean County and the
surrounding region. It has adopted the new slogan Building Campaign
for the Future of Children of All Abilities.
“We enjoy having a relationship with CARE for
Children,” said head volleyball/softball coach Tina Phillips.
“The players always enjoy giving back to the community,
especially in the holiday spirit. This is something we will look
forward to participating in each year.”
