BEHREND CAPTURES MEN'S XC TITLE; KLEIN NAMED INDIVIDUAL CHAMPION
The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team collected 20 points to win the 2022 AMCC Championship on Saturday afternoon at Mount Aloysius College.
The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team collected 20 points to win the 2022 AMCC Championship on Saturday afternoon at Mount Aloysius College.
The Lions registered their conference-leading 14th overall championship and third in a row. Behrend sophomore Kody Klein was crowned the AMCC Individual Champion for crossing the line first with a winning time of 27:14.5, edging out AMCC defending champion Gavin Bathgate for the title.
Bathgate finished in second place with a time of 27:24.4. Behrend's Nick Temel and Aidan Domencic were the next two to cross the line for Behrend, as Temel was third overall with a time of 28:35.9 and Domencic tallied a time of 28:59.9 for fourth place. The Lions' Bennett Kerr ran 29:07.9 for fifth. In sixth place was Pitt-Greensburg freshman Casey Montrey, as he crossed the finish line in 29:15.9. Taking seventh and eighth place was Penn St. Behrend's Aidan Reinsel and Joey George, respectively. Reinsel, running in his first AMCC meet, clocked in with a time of 29:20.9 and George was exactly three seconds behind in 29:23.9. Finishing in ninth place was Alfred State's Maxwell Chiarella with a time of 30:54.1. Rounding out the top 10 was Behrend's Christopher Annear, who finished in 30:02.5.
Alfred State finished in second place in the team scoring with 48, while Hilbert College took third with 109 points, edging out Pitt-Greensburg with the tiebreaker. Pitt-Greensburg finished in fourth place with 109 points, while Mount Aloysius finished in fifth place and La Roche University finished in sixth.
