Buffalo State University senior outside hitter Malachi Jackson has been tabbed the AMCC Men's Volleyball Player of the Year.
Buffalo State University senior outside hitter Malachi Jackson has been tabbed the AMCC Men's Volleyball Player of the Year. Jackson excelled on the court this season for Buffalo State with the program’s first Player of the Year honor, as well as being an AMCC first team all-conference selection. Jackson was a crucial piece of the Bengals first ever AMCC Championship as he led the team and AMCC in kills (255), kills per set (3.70), points per set (4.2), and was third in the conference with a .305 attack percentage across 69 sets played. Jackson's 255 kills set the program record for kills in a season.
Penn State Altoona freshman opposite hitter Caleb Fries has been named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Fries had a standout rookie campaign for the Lions, as he was also named to the AMCC all-conference first team. He finished the regular season leading the AMCC in kills (316), service aces (49), aces per set (0.52), points (398.0), and points per set (4.2). He also ranked second in kills per set (3.36), fifth in block assists (48), sixth in digs (178), seventh in total blocks (57), and eighth in digs per set (1.89). During the season, Fries was a three-time AMCC Offensive Player of the Week.
Coach of the Year honors goes to Buffalo State head coach Daniel Miranda. In the Bengals' first year in the AMCC, Miranda led Buffalo State to a 6-0 conference record, claiming the regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament. The Bengals went on to win the AMCC Championship, advancing to the NCAA tournament.
