BUFFALO STATE CAPTURES FIRST AMCC MEN'S VOLLEYBALL TITLE

The Bengals capped an undefeated regular conference season schedule with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22) victory over #3 seed Penn State Behrend. The Lions landed in the finals with a dramatic comeback win over #2 seed Penn State Altoona, 3-2, the night before. Buffalo State dropped #4 Mount Aloysius College in the other semifinal, 3-0.
The champions were fueled by offensive standout Malachi Jackson (19 kills, .455 kill percentage), Caden Strong (9 kills, .615 kill percentage, 3 blocks), Drew Bowman (30 assists) and Alex Vega (14 digs). Jackson and Strong were named to the all-tournament team.
Behrend, who won the AMCC title in 2022, kept the battle close with strong efforts by Kyle Hoffman (10 kills, 4 digs), Luke Mumpower (19 assists, 6 digs) and Cameron Schleicher (9 kills, 5 digs).
With the victory, Buffalo State (6-0 AMCC, 21-13 overall) earned the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. The field will be announced on Monday at 10am.
