MVB ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM RELEASED; GOODSEL NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The AMCC Men's Volleyball Player of the Year honors goes to Penn State Behrend OH JP Goodsel. Goodsel is earning his first Player of the Year honors for the Lions. He is a two-time AMCC all-conference selection, being named to the second team in 2020 and first team in 2022. Goodsel is second in the conference in kills per set (3.50) and is fifth in overall kills with 301. He is also fourth in digs per set (2.48) and service aces per set (0.38). The graduate student posted double-digit kills in 18 matches this season, knocking down a career-high 26 kills in a 3-1 win over Penn State Altoona. Goodsel was named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team for posting back-to-back double-doubles in the conference championships. He registered a season-best five blocks on two occasions. Goodsel is also a five-time Academic All-AMCC choice.
Thiel College freshman MB/OPP Jake Dies has been named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. In conference play, Dies ranked fifth in blocks per set (0.81), fifth in total blocks (46), and 12th in hitting percentage (.239). Overall, Dies finished the regular season ranked fifth in the AMCC in blocks per set (0.73), tied for fifth in total blocks (72), and ninth in hitting percentage (.238). He registered 2.3 points per set. Overall, her was the highest ranked AMCC freshman in hitting percentage (.238), blocks per set (0.73), and total blocks (72). He was also the fourth-ranked freshman in total service aces in conference play (17).
Penn State Behrend head coach Phil Pisano picks up his fourth AMCC Coach of the Year honor. Pisano led the Lions to a 14-2 regular season record, which included being named the AMCC Regular Season Champions, while earning the top seed and hosting rights for the conference tournament. Pisano went on the guide Behrend to their first AMCC Conference Tournament Championship.
