After day one of the AMCC Swimming and Diving Championships, the Penn State Behrend men and the Alfred State College women hold down the top spots in the standings.
The Behrend men won the 800 free relay in the opening night of the 2019 AMCC Championships held in the Junker Center Pool on Wednesday. The relay team consisting of Mark Patterson, Quinn Fischer, Chase Bietz and James Connolly set three new records on the way to a first-place finish. The time of 6:52.57 broke the pool, AMCC Open and AMCC Meet record. Patterson set a four records as the lead off swimmer in the relay in the 200 freestyle. He reset his school and pool records along with the AMCC Meet and Open records with a time of 1:41.60.
The Alfred State women's swimming & diving team had a strong start to the 2019 AMCC Championships on Wednesday, as the Pioneers led the competition after day one of the four day event.
The 800 free relay team of Jessie LaRue, Kathryn Lewis, Elizabeth Drake, and Sarah Stevens finished in 2nd with a new school record of 8:17.69.
On the diving board, the Pioneers took the top two spots in the 3m competition. Sarah Stevens won the competition with 345.10 points while Leaha Langerman was 2nd with a score of 318.70.
