AMCC SET TO HOST FIRST STAND-ALONE MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP

In conjunction with the AMCC celebrating its 20th anniverary this year, the conference is proud to announce that it will be hosting its first stand-alone swimming and diving conference championship meet this year. For the past 10 years, since swimming and diving was added as a conference sport, the AMCC has teamed up with the Presidents' Athletic Conference to conduct a joint championship. The championship event will be held February 8-11 at the Penn State Behrend Junker Center, with the diving events leading off on Wednesday evening. The Behrend Lions are aiming for their 11th consecutive conference title.

Penn State Behrend has been led by sophomore, and 2016 AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Mark Patterson all season. Patterson has recorded an AMCC top-time in five events, including the 100 free (47:06), 200 free (1:43.38), 500 free (4:48.05), 1000 free (10:28.66), and 100 back (51.68).

Pitt-Bradford, runners-up at the 2016 championship, has seen great production from sophomore Lucas Cerchiaro this season. He has recorded seven times that place him in the top five of the conference, including five that are second-best. The finishes that place him at number two in the AMCC are the 1000 free (10:37.15), 100 butterfly (54.02), 200 butterfly (2:01.99), 200 individual medley (2:02.27), and the 400 individual medley (4:25.48). 

Cabrini University senior Todd Walker has also put together quite the resume this season. He ranks in the top five of the conference in nine different races, including a top time in the 100 butterfly (52.88) and 200 butterfly (2:00.58).

Penn State Altoona freshman David Heckel recorded six top-ten times this season, three of which placed him in the top five (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and 200 individual medley).

The AMCC would also like to welcome the Alfred State Pioneers, who joined the AMCC as an affiliate member in the sports of men's and women's swimming and diving this season. Freshman Ethan Dale found his way to the AMCC top-times list six times, inlcuding four in the top five (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, and 400 individual medley).
