BEHREND MEN MAKE IT EIGHT STRAIGHT AMCC TITLES; PS-ALTOONA'S FISHER EARNS HIGH POINT SCORER
Penn St. Behrend held off a relentless challenge by Penn St. Altoona to win its eighth straight AMCC title on Saturday at the Grove City Invitational.
Penn St. Behrend held off a relentless, three day challenge by
Penn St. Altoona to win its eighth straight AMCC title on Saturday
at the Grove City Invitational. With the final race in the
books, Behrend earned 280 points to Altoona's 215. No other
team has claimed the men's championship.
Pitt-Bradford racked up 136 points to finish third, while Cabrini
College took fourth with 44 points.
Penn St. Altoona sophomore Alex Fisher and Penn
St. Behrend junior Dan Simon tied for high point
scorer for the men's side of the meet while the Lions'
head coach Greg Scallen was voted Men's Coach of
the Invitational, which included all members of the AMCC and the
Presidents Athletics Conference.
Behrend's Nick Kost set three records on his way
to be named champion in the 200 backstroke. He set a new AMCC meet,
open and school record with a time of 1:56.44. In the 100
freestyle, Simon collected his third gold
medal. Simon qualified for nationals in the 100 backstroke on
Friday.
