James Eyre, Mount Aloysius College, Men's Soccer - Defensive

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mount Aloysius GK James Eyre continued his strong play in goal for the Mounties allowing just two goals and making 15 saves in 270 minutes of play in a 3-0 week for Mount Aloysius. His highlight was his second penalty kick save of the season in a 3-1 victory over Thiel College on Sunday. He currently leads the AMCC in save percentage, goals against average and total goals against. 

BEST OF THE REST: Pitt-Greensburg GK Reese Laurel posted a 2-0 record this week with victories at Penn College and against St. Vincent, recording seven total saves and shutouts in both games, including giving UPG the Westmoreland Cup, the annual men's soccer match between the two schools... Pitt-Bradford GK Derrick Brock put together a solid week in goal as he suffered no loss decisions in goal, making six saves in earning a draw on Wednesday, and on Saturday earning his first win of the season as he once again saved six shots...PS-Behrend GK Matt Warnaka was instrumental in leading the Lions to a win this past weekend, notching his first shut-out of the season to push Behrend past Allegheny 2-0...La Roche GK Austin Gorman made 17 saves in 180 minutes of work last week in a 1-1 week for the Redhawks...Franciscan D Joseph Leonardi anchored a dominant back line for the Barons in their 2-0 week as the Barons only allowed two goals, Leonardi ended many scoring opportunities for opponents by clearing balls out of the box before a shot could get off...D'Youville D Josh Hammer headed home the game winner off a corner with 2:49 remaining in the game to give D'Youville a 2-1 victory over Alfred State and their first win of the season, as he leads the team with three goals and six points despite playing every second of the season at center back...Medaille D Sam Beesley was the Mavericks' best defender last week, as the Mavs held the number six team in the nation to a season low in goals.
