The AMCC Men's Soccer Game of the Week features the Penn State Behrend Lions and the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats. Both teams enter Saturday's matchup with undefeated records in conference play in the early season, with Behrend coming in at 2-0 in AMCC play and Pitt-Greensburg with the 1-0 record
The Lions have won four straight, including their first two conference games to enter Saturday’s contest with an overall record of 5-2-2. The team is led by junior M Blake Cooper who leads the AMCC with seven assists and is first on the Lions with 13 points. Junior F Johnathan Swann has a team-high six goals, which is tied for second most in the conference. In net, senior Sam York and sophomore Evan Dougal have combined for 25 saves and three shutouts.
The Bobcat Men’s Soccer Team is looking to earn a win against Behrend after dropping three matches against the Lions last year. The Bobcats are coming into the match on the four match-winning streak with its most recent match being a 1-0 win against Allegheny. The Bobcats are led by freshmen keepers Nick Braun and Brett Barnes. Braun and Barnes are the top two keepers in the AMCC in goals allowed, while Barnes is No. 3 in the AMCC in save percentage (.789). They are also both in the top five in Goals Against Average with Braun letting up 0.76 goals and Barnes giving up 1.14. Pitt-Greensburg is led by a balanced offensive attack, as three different players have scored three goals a piece so far this season -- Matt Armenio, Zander Plizga, and Vinny Treonze. Pitt-Greensburg took its first AMCC matchup against Pitt-Bradford, defeating the Panthers 5-1. In the match, five difference Bobcats scored while five different Bobcats earned the assists on the goals.
