The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team fell in overtime, 2-1, to Alvernia University in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship match.
Both teams entered halftime in a scoreless tie as Behrend registered four shots on goal and Alvernia notched two shots on goal. It was much of the same to start the second half as neither team could find the back of the net in a physical contest. Senior Justin Hockenberger dribbled past a few defenders and sent a ball out front to the foot of Chris Profaca to put the Lions ahead 1-0. Profaca dished out an assist on the game-winner in the semis against Goucher and was able to score for the Lions in the championship game. The Golden Wolves knotted the score at one apiece with a header score in the 84th minute. Behrend's goalkeeper Sam York made two consecutive saves in a row, but the ball was eventually headed past York by Ryan Cogill to force overtime. The game-winner for Alvernia came in the 92nd minute of extra time when a shot deflected off York and was deposited in the net by Connor Kraycik. York finished with eight saves, marking a single-game high for stops by the senior netminder this season. Blake Cooper and John Ziobro led the Lions with three shots apiece, while Cogill tallied a game-high seven shots for the Golden Wolves
