The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team has been selected by league coaches to finish at the top of league standings in 2022.
The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team has been selected by league coaches to finish at the top of league standings in 2022. Defending champion Mount Aloysius College is expected to finish in second place, with Alfred State College finishing in the third spot.
Mount Aloysius sophomore M/F Juan Camacho has been named the AMCC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Camacho was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2021. He was the Mounties’ leading goal scorer (8), point scorer (19) and tied for the assist leader (3).
Mount Aloysius junior D Rhett Pletcher and Penn State Behrend senior GK Sam York have been tabbed as AMCC Preseason Co-Defensive Players of the Year.
Pletcher was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2021. He scored the game-winning goal to send the Mounties to the AMCC Championship game. Pletcher was named team captain after the 2021 season. York was also an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2021, as he recorded seven shutouts on the year.
The AMCC Championship will be held November 5 at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
