AMCC men’s soccer coaches expect the 2019 season to look much like it did a year ago.
AMCC men's soccer coaches expect the 2019 season to look much like it did a year ago. Defending champion, Penn State Behrend, has been selected to once again defend their crown. 2018 runner-up Medaille College is again expected to finish in second, while coaches are once again looking for Mount Aloysius College to fill in the third spot in the standings.
Medaille senior midfielder Mitchell Ali is the AMCC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Ali is a three-time all-conference performer, while also receiving all-region recognition in 2018. He is the conference's returning point leader after tallying 13 goals and nine assists for 35 points as a junior. Ali's three game-winning goals were tied for first on the team and in the AMCC.
Penn St. Behrend senior defender Andrew Mastovich has been named the AMCC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Mastovich was a first team all-conference selection a year ago. He helped anchor a defense that only allowed five goals against AMCC opponents. Mastovich was instrumental in the team's 0.75 goals against average (1st in AMCC). He helped his team post 10 total shutouts last season. In addition to his stellar defense, Mastovich also tallied three goals in 2018.
The AMCC Championship will be held November 9 at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
