Saturday, October 1 at 3:15 p.m.
Both Medaille and La Roche are coming into the game of the week fresh off two straight AMCC conference wins and a perfect 2-0 record in conference. The Redhawks are 6-3 on the season and 4-1 on their home turf, while the Mavs are 5-3-1 overall.
This year’s Redhawk squad combines a strong veteran core with some new faces. Leading the attack for La Roche are sophomore F Elliott Dick, junior F Tyler Grebur and junior F Pedro Ansede. Dick and Ansede have each scored twice this season. Ximo Vicent sets the pace in the middle as he currently leads the team with four assists and tied the school’s assist record with 12 last season. Brothers Peter Spagnolo and Tom Spagnolo have been excellent additions to the midfield, both recording game-winning goals including a P. Spagnolo to T. Spagnolo OT winner against Marietta earlier this year. Freshman goalkeeper Austin Gorman has been terrific in net. He currently leads the AMCC in saves, save percentage and wins.
Medaille College is currently 5-3-1/2-0 AMCC and is currently on a four game winning streak (all shutouts) where they have outscored their opponents 21-0. This includes a 3-0 win over the defending AMCC Champion Mount Aloysius College. Freshman forward Lachlan Wilkenson leads the balanced offensive attack with (12) points thus far (5 goals, 2 assists). They have seven players with at least seven points already. Senior GK Brian Arcara already has five shutouts and a (.767) save percentage.
