AUGUSTINE NAMED ECAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR; HERRMAN NAMED TO FIRST TEAM

Penn State Behrend men's soccer player Evan Augustine has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Year. He also made First Team All-ECAC to go along with his Player of the Year achievement. Franciscan University junior forward Leo Herrmann has also been named to the first team.

The senior defender capped off his career adding yet another prestigious award. Early this month, he was honored as the AMCC Defensive Player of the Year. His stellar defense helped the Lions hold a 0.57 goals against average including 13 shutouts. He also contributed on offense, adding two goals and an assist for five points. Augustine finishes his career tied on the all-time list for career games played with 88.

Herrmann finished the year with a career-best 18 goals, setting the single-season record at FUS while adding five assists for 41 points this season. Herrmann now has 50 goals and 116 points in his career at Franciscan. Herrmann finished the year with five game-winning goals, was a perfect 2-for-2 on penalty kicks and averaged 2.29 points per game this year. Nationally, Herrmann ranks among the top-10 active career leaders in goals (10^th/50 goals), points per game (6^th/2.19 points per game),  and goals per game (6^th/0.94 goals per game). Herrmann helped the Barons to 10-7-1 overall record, the best record in program history, and the No. 4 seed in the AMCC tournament, their first appearance in a postseason tournament.
